Rachel qualified in 1986 and worked on critical care units both in Leeds and Australia before moving to Airedale as a Nurse Consultant in December 2000. Since 2007, Airedale have been delivering healthcare to offenders via telemedicine and in 2011, the Trust opened their Digital Care Hub supporting patients remotely 24/7 in their own home.

As part of a joint venture with the technology firm Involve VC, the hub at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust now supports over 40,000 care home residents using telemedicine in 800 homes across the country, delivering virtual clinical assessments and also providing a GP triage function. This clinical NHS nursing and therapy team also support people with chronic ill health with the MyCare24 virtual ward service and those at the end of their life, via the Gold Line.
