Since qualifying, Tracie’s career has seen four decades of medical , surgical, overseas and intensive care nursing. The last three decades focusing on cancer nursing as a gynaecology oncology CNS. The last decade seeing Tracie counselling and consenting her ovarian and subsequently endometrial patients for genomic tests. Now as the Associate Director of Nursing & Midwifery for the SW Genomic Medicine Service Alliance she supports the embedding of genomics in the patient pathway ( mainstreaming ), also teaching in the faculty of the university of the West of England masters in counselling and consenting for nurses & midwives.
Tracie took part in the Phillips Ives Nursing Review into the digital readiness of the nursing and midwifery workforce as a genomics advisor.
Tracie led a collaborative project with industry, supporting patients to receive digital information and consultation for genomic testing, BReast CAncer Genes and Me, this successful project features in the publication Harnessing Digital Technology and Data for Nursing Practice.
Tracie is published in nursing and medical journals on mainstreaming and genomics, contributes to NICE specialist committees looking at genomic testing, and supports a number of research programmes in the genomic arena.
