George has been using his patient voice to drive improvements to patient experiences and outcomes since his diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at the age of 23 and subsequent relapse and stem cell transplant. Over the past 15 years he's advocated for people with lived experience in a broad range of settings, from an NHS England Clinical Reference Group (CRG), in-hospital patient groups and round tables with the King's Fund, to working with charities such as Blood Cancer UK (for which he is an Ambassador), Anthony Nolan, Macmillan, Shine Cancer Support and Full Circle Fund Therapies.
After jobs in the publishing and technology sectors, he now works as Communities Manager at the collaborative online insight-gathering platform Thiscovery. Building on his experiences and passion for meaningful patient involvement, his remit includes recruiting, engaging and inspiring people with lived experience to use their voice alongside those who work in health and care to deliver action-driven outcomes to improve services.
