Paul Llewellyn
chief clinical information officer
Accenture

A registered nurse by background, Paul has worked full-time in digital health for over 20 years, holding leadership roles across a range of technologies and services, including electronic patient records, telehealth, and interoperability.

Currently, he is the Chief Clinical Information Officer and Clinical Safety Officer at Accenture, a leading global professional services company specialising in digital, cloud, and AI technologies. In addition to this role, he collaborates closely with Avanade, Accenture’s joint venture with Microsoft, supporting health technology strategy, clinical safety, and regulatory assurance for Microsoft-based digital health solutions.

Paul is a Fellow of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT; a Leading Practitioner with the Federation for Informatics Professionals (FEDIP); and a certified practitioner in medical device regulation through the British Standards Institute (BSI). He also serves as the industry representative on NHS England’s Digital Clinical Safety Advisory Group.

Paul has devoted most of his career to transforming healthcare through technology, an irony he acknowledges, given that his 1995 undergraduate thesis explored the dehumanising effects of technology in care. That early perspective continues to shape his commitment to human-centred, clinically safe digital innovation.
