
Sarah, a pioneering leader in digital nursing, is the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and a former Regional Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) for NHS England.
A dual-registered Adult Nurse and Lecturer Practitioner, bringing over 30 years of expertise spanning clinical practice, operations, digital health, education, and leadership - predominantly within Acute and Tertiary NHS Trusts across the Northwest. Recognised early for her contributions to digital nursing leadership, Sarah was awarded one of the first Senior Florence Nightingale Digital Scholarships in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. She founded the Northwest Regional CNIO, Midwife, and Allied Health Professionals Digital Network, fostering collaboration and innovation. Her work continues to influence national and international discussions on digital nursing.
Between 2021 and 2023, Sarah was the inaugural National Chair of the CNIO Digital Health Network, receiving national recognition for her contributions. Since 2021, she has served as a CHIME UK Board Member and UK Nurse Advisor, later becoming a CHIME UK Faculty Member in 2023.
Sarah believes that technology, when applied thoughtfully, can transform patient outcomes and enhance clinicians’ ability to provide safer, more compassionate care. A qualified coach, author, speaker, and influencer, she shares insights to inspire others. Rooted in the core values that led her into nursing - curiosity, care, and a commitment to making a difference - Sarah continually challenges the status quo.
